How will God destroy and defeat His enemies at the end?
God will destroy and defeat His enemies with His spoken Word, which Scripture describes as sharper than any two-edged sword. Just as He created the universe by the spoken Word, He accomplishes all things by speaking. He speaks the Word, and it is done, leaving the gathered armies as flesh for scavenger birds.
Les explains that the word of God is sharper than any two-edged sword, and that is how He will destroy and defeat His enemies: with the spoken Word. He created the universe by the spoken Word, He does anything by the spoken Word, and He will do it here. He speaks the Word and it is done. The scavenger birds were filled with the flesh of the armies gathered in the areas of Jerusalem. Then, once the Tribulation has ended and Christ has returned, the stage is set for the thousand-year reign of Christ, the Kingdom or Millennium, on the earth. An angel comes down from heaven with the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain. That chain need not be an iron chain to confine a spirit being like Satan, but some material God knows will confine even a spirit being. He lays hold on the dragon, that old serpent, the devil, Satan, and binds him a thousand years. Les is a literalist and believes Satan is confined for that exact thousand-year period.
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
