How will Christ defeat His enemies at His return?
At His return, Christ will defeat His enemies with the spoken Word, described in Hebrews 4:12 as sharper than any two-edged sword. Just as He created the universe by speaking, He will speak the Word and it will be done, destroying the gathered armies.
Les explains that Hebrews 4:12 describes the word of God as sharper than any two-edged sword, and that this is how Christ will destroy and defeat His enemies at His return—with the spoken Word. He reminds us that Christ created the universe by the spoken Word, does everything with the spoken Word, and will do so here: He speaks the Word and it is done. The scavenger birds are then filled with the flesh of the armies gathered in the areas of Jerusalem. After the Tribulation ends and Christ returns, the stage is set for the thousand-year reign, the Kingdom or Millennium on earth.
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
