What happened to Jerusalem and the temple in 70 A.D.?

In 70 A.D., God sovereignly permitted the Roman army under Titus to destroy the temple and the city of Jerusalem and to uproot the Jews from the Promised Land into dispersion. This came because Israel rejected the promises, their Messiah, and their King.

Les explains that after the crucifixion and Pentecost, Israel continued rejecting the Old Testament promises of the King and Kingdom and her role as evangelist to the pagan world. Spiritually she went down, and finally in 70 A.D.—40 years after Pentecost or the crucifixion—God sovereignly permitted the Roman army under Titus to destroy the temple and Jerusalem and to uproot the Jew from the Promised Land into dispersion continuing to the present day. This was because they rejected the promises, their Messiah, and their King. God dispersed them, took away the temple and their religion, and turned to the Gentile with the Age of Grace. Les also notes God deals in specific prophetic time frames, citing Daniel 9’s 490 years, with 483 consummated and a break before the final seven years.
