What happened to Israel in A.D. 70?

In A.D. 70, Titus destroyed the temple in Jerusalem and the city, and Israel was sent into her dispersion among the Gentile world. This dispersion followed the book of Acts period, when God set Israel aside and turned to the Gentiles, as Paul explains in Romans 11.

Les explains that A.D. 70 marks the end of the 40-year book of Acts period. At that time Titus destroyed the temple in Jerusalem and the city, and Israel was sent into dispersion. He compares Israel's condition to Ezekiel 37, where the dispersed nation became like corpses out in the Gentile world. This happened because the tribulation did not come immediately after the crucifixion; instead, God set Israel aside in a parenthesis while turning to the Gentiles. Paul writes in Romans 11 that Israel had not fallen out of God's program, but by their fall salvation came to the Gentiles. After Israel is dispersed, that period is totally out of a prophetic time frame, since prophecy concerning Israel is always in a time frame—490 years determined upon Israel, 40 years here and 40 years there.
