How will the false prophet use his power to turn people to worship the Antichrist?
The false prophet will use a great religious organization and miracle-working power—including calling fire down from heaven—to deceive earth's inhabitants. By these wonders and deception, he will convince them to worship the first beast, the healed Roman empire/Antichrist counterfeit, rather than the God of creation.
Les explains that the false prophet will have a great religious organization at his disposal and enough power to convince people under his religious umbrella to worship not the God of creation but the Antichrist, the counterfeit. They will worship the first beast, or that empire, whose deadly wound was healed. Les returns to the Roman empire as the beast that is healed, as against an individual. The false prophet, this religious leader, will do great wonders, even making fire come down from heaven in the sight of men. He uses miracles and power to convince the human race of who he is; he is a counterfeit, but he will convince them he is the truth. He deceives those who dwell on the earth by those miracles. Satan has power to perform miracles, as Pharaoh's magicians did in Egypt and others in the Old Testament economy, and they will do it again in the tribulation, receiving their power from Satan.
