How is the false prophet like the Holy Spirit?
The false prophet plays the role of the Holy Spirit by directing people to the Antichrist. Just as the Holy Spirit points mankind today to God the Son, this religious leader will point men of that day to the counterfeit God the Son, exercising power alongside the first beast.
Les explains that the false prophet will exercise all the power of the first beast, but he is not a political leader or emperor. He is a religious leader who will head up a global religion. Les emphasizes the word 'plays': the false prophet plays the role of the Holy Spirit. As the Holy Spirit points mankind today to God the Son, so this false prophet will point men of that day to the Antichrist, the counterfeit God the Son. Les also suggests this false prophet could possibly be an apostate Jew.
