How does the false prophet act as a counterfeit of the Holy Spirit?
The tribulation religious leader, identified as the false prophet, performs great wonders, even calling fire down from heaven, and deceives earth’s inhabitants through miracles. Where the genuine Spirit draws people to God the Son, this religious leader instead causes humanity to worship the Antichrist, the counterfeit Son, under Satan’s inspiration. Thus he mimics the Spirit’s role but redirects worship.
Les teaches that Revelation presents a counterfeit trinity: Satan counterfeits God the Father, the Antichrist counterfeits God the Son, and the false prophet, this religious leader, counterfeits the Holy Spirit. Just as the genuine Holy Spirit today draws people to God the Son, this counterfeit of the Holy Spirit causes people to worship the Antichrist, the counterfeit Son. He exercises the power of the first beast, works great wonders, makes fire come down from heaven in the sight of men, and deceives those who dwell on the earth by means of those miracles. Unlike the Holy Spirit, who will never deceive, this false prophet uses signs to lead humanity to the political Antichrist.
