How does the false prophet counterfeit the Holy Spirit?
The false prophet counterfeits the Holy Spirit by performing a parallel work during the Tribulation: rather than pointing people to God the Son, he causes people to worship the Antichrist, fulfilling a counterfeit role of the Holy Spirit. He operates under Satan's control and power, forming an unholy trinity with the Antichrist.
Les teaches that the Holy Spirit's work in the Age of Grace is to point lost people to God the Son, and for believers to teach, encourage, reprove, and so forth, so they bring honor and glory to the Son. During the Tribulation, the false prophet does the same thing, but in a counterfeit way: he causes people to worship the Antichrist, fulfilling a counterfeit role of the Holy Spirit. Both the false prophet and the Antichrist are under Satan's control and power, working in unison as an unholy trinity, much as the Holy Trinity does. The false prophet and Antichrist are human and will go to their doom; Satan will join them later.
