How is the false prophet a counterfeit of the Holy Spirit?
The false prophet mimics the Holy Spirit by drawing people toward the Antichrist instead of Christ, performing great wonders and calling fire from heaven. While the Holy Spirit never deceives, this counterfeit uses miracles to deceive earth's inhabitants, functioning as the third member of a counterfeit trinity in Revelation.
Les teaches that throughout Revelation there is a counterfeit trinity. Satan is the counterfeit of God the Father, the Antichrist is the counterfeit of God the Son, and the false prophet—this religious leader under Satan's inspiration—is a counterfeit of the Holy Spirit. Just as the genuine Holy Spirit draws people to God the Son, this false prophet causes people to worship the Antichrist, the counterfeit Son. He does much of what the Holy Spirit does legitimately: he performs great wonders and makes fire come down from heaven. But since he is a counterfeit, he deceives those who dwell on the earth by means of those miracles, whereas the Holy Spirit will never deceive.
