How does the false prophet counterfeit the Holy Spirit during the tribulation?
During the tribulation, the false prophet counterfeits the Holy Spirit by directing worship away from the true Son and toward the Antichrist. Just as the Holy Spirit points people to God the Son, the false prophet causes people to worship the Antichrist, fulfilling a counterfeit role within an unholy trinity empowered by Satan.
Les explains that the false prophet and the Antichrist are two humans who are part of an unholy trinity, working in unison much as the Holy Trinity does. In the Age of Grace, the Holy Spirit points lost people to God the Son, and for believers He teaches, encourages, reproves, and brings honor and glory to the Son. The false prophet will do the same thing during the tribulation: he will cause people to worship the Antichrist, thereby fulfilling a counterfeit role of the Holy Spirit. Both he and the Antichrist are under the control and power of Satan.
