Les Feldick Bible Study

Why should we reject anyone who sets a date for Christ's return for the church?

Anyone setting a date for Christ's return for the church should be rejected because the church age has no prophetic utterance or time frame. Scripture provides nothing to calculate such a date; date-setting is therefore false from the outset. Prophecy and measurable time resume only after the church age ends and the seven-year tribulation begins.

Les explains that for the most part there is no prophetic utterance connected with the church age, and that should always be remembered. So when people come and say that on such and such a day the Lord is coming, he says to mark them off as false from day one, because there is nothing in Scripture that can help set a date for the return of Christ for the church. Only after the church age is done—that undetermined period of time—and the seven years of tribulation begin does prophecy and a time frame return. But for the church age, there is nothing like that.
