Why should date-setters for Christ's return be rejected as false teachers?

Date-setters should be rejected because Scripture gives no ability to set a date. During the church age there is no prophetic time frame; Christ's return is imminent and unknown, possibly today or years away. No one knows when He will return, so anyone assigning a specific day is a false teacher.

Les teaches that when Israel lost her temple, national state, and sovereign government and was dispersed, God's time clock stopped and the church age began. In that age there is no time frame, so no one knows when Christ will return; it is only imminent. He may come before the day is over, or it may be years down the road. Les told his class that when someone sets a date, you should cast him off as a false teacher, because nothing in Scripture gives us the ability to set a date.
