Les Feldick Bible Study

Why should a person who sets a date for Christ's return be considered a false teacher?

A person who sets a date for Christ’s return should be considered a false teacher because Scripture gives no ability to know or calculate that day. Christ’s return is imminent—He may come at any time—but no one knows when, so date-setting contradicts the biblical teaching and should be rejected.

Les teaches that once Israel lost her temple, national state, and sovereign government and was dispersed, God’s time clock stopped and the church age began. During this age there is no time frame, and no one knows when Christ will return. The return is imminent—He may come before the day is over, or it may be years down the road. Therefore, Les warns that when someone sets a date for the Lord’s return, you should cast him off as a false teacher, because nothing in Scripture gives us the ability to set a date.
