Where did Paul go after fleeing Damascus instead of going to Jerusalem?
After escaping Damascus by being let down through the wall in a basket, Paul did not go to Jerusalem to meet the Twelve. Instead, he went down to Mount Sinai in Arabia, rather than returning to Jerusalem, according to the account.
Les explains that Saul had been proving Jesus was the promised Messiah in Damascus, but when the Jews took counsel to kill him, the disciples took him by night and let him down by the wall in a basket. He had to flee. Normally, one might think he would go back to Jerusalem, since the Twelve had been with Christ three years and knew His ministry intricately; it would seem logical for Saul to ask them to fill him in. But Les says Scripture makes plain that was the last place he would have gone. Instead, Saul went down to Mount Sinai in Arabia.
