Where did Saul go after escaping from Damascus?
After the disciples took him by night and let him down by the wall in a basket, Saul escaped Damascus and went to Mount Sinai in Arabia. He did not go back to Jerusalem, which Scripture says was the last place he would have gone.
Les explains that after Saul increased in strength and confounded the Jews at Damascus, proving from the Old Testament that Jesus is the Christ, the Jews took counsel to kill him. They watched the gates night and day, so the disciples took him by night and let him down by the wall in a basket. Les notes that God sovereignly intervened because Saul could not remain there. The expected destination would have been Jerusalem, where the twelve apostles were, but Les emphasizes that was the last place Saul would have gone. Instead, he went down to Mount Sinai in Arabia.
