Where did Paul go instead of Jerusalem, and what is in that region?
Instead of returning to Jerusalem to confer with the apostles, Paul went into Arabia. That region contains Mount Sinai, as Scripture notes in Galatians. There the Lord took him, and after about three years of experience at Mount Sinai in the desert, he was ready to carry the message of grace to the Gentiles.
Les explains that Paul did not go back to Jerusalem and did not confer with the twelve, those who were apostles before him. Instead, Paul went into Arabia. Les points out that from another chapter in Galatians we know what was in Arabia: Mount Sinai in Arabia. Les teaches that the Lord took Paul there, and from the account in Acts he must have been down there three years. From that three years of experience at Mount Sinai in the desert, Paul was then ready to take the message of grace to the Gentile world. Later, after three years, he went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, not to learn everything Peter knew, but to share with Peter some of these new revelations. Les notes that Peter never did get them all or comprehend all these revelations that the Apostle Paul had received.
Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.
For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.
