Why must we believe Scripture and what will God hold us accountable for?
Scripture cannot lie, so we must believe it, because God will hold us accountable for believing His Word. The question God asks is whether we believe His Word. He calls that faith, and without faith it is impossible to please Him.
Les explains that Scripture does not lie and cannot lie, so we have to believe it, because this is what God is going to hold us accountable for. The accountability is expressed in the question, "Do you believe My Word?" God calls that faith, and without faith it is impossible to please Him; it all rolls together. Les then directs attention to Colossians chapter 2, where Paul writes that those who were dead in sins and in the uncircumcision of the flesh—pre-salvation existence and pagan Gentiles—have been quickened together with Christ. When Christ died, we died; when He arose, we arose to newness of life, and He has made us alive together with Him, having forgiven all trespasses—every last one committed, being committed, and will be committed. They are already forgiven. Les stresses that when Christ died, He died for all the world's sins, tasted death for every man, and he repeats this.
