Why do we need to substantiate everything from Scripture?

We must substantiate everything from Scripture because what man says or thinks amounts to nothing. Human ideas and projections are worthless; the book is the only reliable authority. Every claim must be verified from Scripture so that teaching rests on what God says rather than on human opinion.

Les teaches that although he occasionally shares his own ideas or projections, his primary goal is for people to see what the book says, because what man says or thinks doesn't amount to anything. Therefore, we have to be able to come back and substantiate everything from the Scripture. He illustrates this need by showing how the Old Testament account of Moses is clarified by Acts chapter 7, demonstrating the importance of comparing and verifying from Scripture.
