What will suddenly happen to this body one of these days?
One of these days this body, whether young, old, or in between, is suddenly going to be gone, and we are going to be clothed upon with that which is immortal, a new body far better, never again having pain or sickness.
Les explains that while we are still in this tabernacle—still in the flesh and burdened—we are not primarily looking forward to being unclothed, with soul and spirit separated from the body. Rather, the prospect is that as soon as this body has quit functioning and is no longer necessary, we have a new one, far better. That new body will never again have an ounce of pain, sickness, or even a cold. Les says this is coming, and we are getting close, even for young people. One of these days this body, whether young, old, or in between, is suddenly going to be gone, and we will be clothed upon with that which is immortal. He compares this to how lives full of vigor and vitality can suddenly be gone in a split second, as happens on highways every day.
For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.
