What will happen to our vile, corrupt body?
The Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, will change our vile, corrupt body in a metamorphosis, fashioning it like unto His glorious body. This body, being dissolved, will become a new resurrected body, according to His working whereby He is able even to subdue all things unto Himself.
Les explains that our citizenship is in heaven, and from that same heaven we look for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ—not the King. He emphasizes that at the second coming Christ will come to the Mount of Olives to Israel as King of kings, but for the church He comes as the Savior and head of the body. Verse 21 says He shall change our vile, corrupt body; it will be a metamorphosis, grander than a butterfly. This body, as spoken of in verse 1 of chapter 5, is being dissolved, but it will become a new body fashioned like unto His glorious body, according to His working whereby He is able to subdue all things unto Himself. Les says if you want a glimpse of your new resurrected body, study the forty days of Christ's resurrection. He looked normal, walked on two feet, appeared as another human being, and walked with the disciples on the road to Emmaus. They invited Him in for the evening meal, and then suddenly He was gone—He did not go out the door or slip out a window.
Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.
For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
