How suddenly can death come to a healthy person?
Death can come in a split second. Lives full of vigor, vitality, and everything are suddenly gone in an instant, and it happens on highways every day. No one knows who will be next, whether young, old, or in between, because this body is prone to die.
Les explains that this body, whether it is young, old, or in between, is suddenly going to be gone. He points out that we have seen in the world in the last week how all of a sudden, lives full of vigor and full of vitality and full of everything are suddenly gone in a split second. It happens on our highways every day, and we never know who is going to be next. Even young people under the age of 30 or 35 can be told the same thing as older folk: we are getting close. Yet for the believer, the body that is prone to die is never going to die, and that is the hope of the believer.
For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.
