What will Christ do to our vile, corrupt body?

The Lord Jesus Christ will transform the vile, corrupt body of the believer. This change is a metamorphosis, greater than a butterfly’s, so the body is fashioned like unto His glorious body. It happens according to the working whereby He is able even to subdue all things unto Himself, resulting in a new resurrected body.

Les explains that the believer’s citizenship is in heaven, and from that same heaven we look for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ—not the King. At the second coming, Christ comes to the Mount of Olives for Israel as King of kings and Lord of lords, but for the church He comes as the Savior and Head of the body. Verse 21 says He shall change our vile, corrupt body, a metamorphosis on a grander scale than a butterfly. This body is dissolved, but it will be made new and fashioned like unto His glorious body, according to the working whereby He is able even to subdue all things unto Himself. Les says that to glimpse the new resurrected body, study the 40 days of Christ’s resurrection: He looked very normal, walked on two feet, had outward appearances as another human being, walked with the disciples on the road to Emmaus, was invited in for a meal, and then suddenly was gone—not out the door or a window.

Philippians 3:21

Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

2 Corinthians 5:1

For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
