What will the Lord Jesus Christ do to our body?
The Lord Jesus Christ will change our vile body and fashion it like unto His own. Because our citizenship is in Heaven, we look for the Savior, who will transform the body to be like His. This is the believer's positional hope, grounded in being translated into His Kingdom.
Les explains that Paul, writing to the Gentile believers at Colossae, speaks of giving thanks unto the Father, who hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light, and who hath delivered us from the power of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son. Les points out that this Kingdom is in Heaven, and that positionally, in the mind of God, believers are already in Heaven even while still on terra firma. Then, in Philippians 3, Les directs attention to the believer's position: our citizenship is in Heaven, from whence we look for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall change our vile body that it be fashioned like unto His. He contrasts this with being subjects of a King, noting that we are not subjects but co-heirs with a King, a truth found in Paul rather than in the Gospels.
