What is true pride all about according to Les?
True pride is about getting control over other people. It grips powerful politicians and military commanders, and notorious emperors such as Napoleon, Stalin, and Hitler, who became power hungry because they could control masses of people. Such people want control over others.
Les explains that true pride is all about obtaining control over other people. He notes that politicians and military commanders would understand this temptation because they can reach the place of controlling massive numbers of people, and power literally grabs them. He points to notorious emperors like Napoleon, Stalin, and Hitler, who became so power hungry because they could control the masses. In the temptation of Jesus, Satan takes Him up into an exceeding high mountain and shows Him all the kingdoms of the world. Satan offers Jesus control over all these nations if He will fall down and worship him. Les suggests Satan must not have known that one day these same nations will be under Christ's rulership when He rules and reigns, and they will come as a result of His sovereignty.
