Les Feldick Bible Study

Can a Christian leave God behind when going to an ungodly place?

No. The moment a person believes, the Holy Spirit comes and indwells them. A believer cannot check God at the door of an ungodly place; He goes with them wherever they go. Since the body is the temple of the indwelling Holy Spirit, one should be careful where one goes.

Les explains that every believer is indwelt by the Spirit the moment he believes. He warns young people, and says it applies to older folks too, that when you go to some ungodly place, you're not going to check God at the door; you take Him wherever you go. You cannot check Him wherever you think it isn't fit for Him to be, so you better be careful where you go, because this body is the temple of the indwelling Holy Spirit. He emphasizes that the third person of the Trinity comes and indwells the believer, which is why God can know every thought, every place we go, and everything we do, because He's here. He compares this to Solomon's temple, where the Shekinah glory came down and dwelt, as a fore view of this age of grace, where the Holy Spirit comes into us.

1 Corinthians 3:16

Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
