Can a Christian cast himself out of the body of Christ by committing a horrible sin?
No. A believer cannot remove himself from the body of Christ by committing a horrible sin, because every believer is totally under the control and power of the sovereign God. No one can supersede His power, and nothing can separate us from the love of God.
Les explains that he cannot see it happening. He recounts a fellow who argued that while God would never cast us out, he could cast himself out by committing some horrible sin. Les responds that you cannot touch yourself so far as being in that position in the body of Christ any more than someone else can. Believers are totally under the control and power of the sovereign God, and nobody can supersede His power. Paul’s closing verses of Romans 8 are like the crescendo of a great orchestra, building to the declaration that nothing can separate us from the love of Christ, the love of God.
