Do Christians have to give up all the good things in life to follow God?

No. The idea that following God requires giving up all good times is a misconception held by the world. Scripture says believers are blessed with spiritual blessings in the heavenlies, not primarily material things. Those spiritual blessings last forever, while earthly, material blessings are temporary like a vapor.

Les explains that Ephesians 1:3 speaks of being blessed with all spiritual blessings in the heavenlies, not material blessings like a Cadillac in every garage or a seven-bedroom home. Earthly and material blessings last only a short while—perhaps 70, 80, or 90 years—like grass that withers or a vapor that vanishes. The world scoffs and thinks Christians have to give up all the good times and live a life of sacrifice, but Les says that is not the case at all. Spiritual blessings, by contrast, last all eternity, forever.
