Why should a Christian be careful about where he goes?
Because the Holy Spirit indwells every believer from the moment of faith, a Christian takes God wherever he goes and cannot check Him at the door. The body is the temple of the indwelling Holy Spirit, so one should be careful where he goes since God knows every place.
Les explains that every believer receives the Spirit the moment he believes, and the Spirit comes and indwells him. He often tells young people, though it applies to older folks too, that when you go to some ungodly place, you are not going to check God at the door; you take Him wherever you go. You cannot check Him wherever you think it is not fit for Him to be, so you had better be careful where you go. The reason is that this body is the temple of the indwelling Holy Spirit. Les points to the plain language, “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?” The third person of the Trinity comes and indwells the believer, so God can know every thought and every place we go. Les also compares this to Solomon’s temple, where the Shekinah glory came down and dwelt, as a fore view of this age of grace when the Holy Spirit comes into us.
