Why do unsaved people think it's odd to go to a weeknight Bible study?
Unsaved people consider a weeknight Bible study odd because spiritual things are foolishness to the natural man, who does not receive or comprehend the things of the Spirit. Since these truths are spiritually discerned, the unbeliever sees no value in such study and views it as abnormal.
Les explains that believers can understand and compare Scripture with Scripture, but the unsaved person cannot connect these things. Paul calls the unsaved person "the natural man," who receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God. The unbeliever may understand a few things, such as the story of Bethlehem, but deep doctrinal aspects and end-time prophecies are a closed book. He does not comprehend because he does not want to; it is all foolishness to him. Consequently, unsaved neighbors think something is wrong with you if you go to a Bible study on a weeknight. Sunday morning church seems normal, but a weeknight Bible study seems odd, because these things are spiritually discerned.
But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
