Why can't an unsaved person understand the Bible no matter how much it is taught to them?

An unsaved person remains in the natural man and under the old Adam, so he cannot comprehend spiritual truth. Bible understanding requires a personal salvation experience first; then the Holy Spirit enlightens him, and the Scriptures begin to open up. Human teaching alone cannot overcome that spiritual condition.

Les explains that the natural man cannot comprehend these things; a person must first and foremost have a salvation experience. Then the Holy Spirit enlightens him, and the Scriptures begin to open up. He has been blunt when people say they cannot understand the Word he teaches, telling them that once they come to know the Lord, they will. Most times when people cannot get anything out of the Word, they know nothing of salvation, are still in the natural, still living under the old Adam, and will never comprehend the Scriptures until they enter into a relationship with Christ by virtue of their salvation experience.
