Why is the education system being criticized today?

The education system is criticized because it graduates students from high school and even college who cannot read or write, fill out employment forms, or write checks. They have not been taught the rudimentary things needed to function in the secular world.

Les explains that the criticism of the education system today is because students are brought out of high school and even college who cannot read or write, cannot fill out an employment form, or write a check. They have not been taught even the rudimentary things of the secular world, so they cannot function. He then brings this into the spiritual realm, asking if it is any different, and answering no. This is what Paul deals with in 1 Corinthians 3, telling the Corinthians he could not speak to them as spiritual but as carnal. The Corinthians had not gone into the deep things, unlike the Thessalonians, who in a short time covered the whole gamut from the rudimentary to the very deep things.
