Why is the world in derision today?
The world is in derision today because Israel rejected their king, so the foretold derision was postponed into the future and is now unfolding. God speaks to the nations in wrath and sore displeasure, pouring out Tribulation judgments described in Revelation, leaving the world in a horrible dilemma beyond comprehension.
Les explains that because Israel was rejecting everything, the entire prophetic program—including the derision—was pushed out into the future, and we are seeing it now in our own day. He points out that even people who know nothing of Scripture can see from the news that the world is in a horrible dilemma. He mentions missionary friends who had worked in Rwanda and reports of believers massacred, illustrating the severity. In verse 5, the order of the Old Testament prophetic program continues: after they rejected their king, God will speak to the nations not in love, mercy, and grace but in His wrath, vexing them in His sore displeasure. This is the outpouring of wrath and vexation during the Tribulation, described graphically in Revelation.
