Les Feldick Bible Study

Why is it so hard to raise good kids today?

Raising good children is difficult because many young people today lack principles, moral compunctions, and absolutes, and bad friends destroy good youth. Scripture warns that a companion of fools will be destroyed, while walking with the wise brings wisdom. Good parents struggle when their child is surrounded by corrupt companions.

Les explains that when he looks back at his own youth and the lives of others, he saw many good young people totally destroyed by bad friends. That is why raising kids today is so difficult: so many are simply bad people with no compunctions for right and wrong, no principles, and no absolutes in their lives. It is hard for good parents to raise a good child in the midst of all those bad friends. The Word of God is adamant about this. Proverbs 13:20 says, “He that walketh with wise men shall be wise, but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.” Les points out that good company brings success, and you will never rise any higher than the people you fellowship with.
