What does God expect of us after we become a child of God?

After becoming a child of God, God expects believers to learn, grow, and gain a graphic understanding of all that God has done on their behalf. This growth comes through the deeper doctrinal truths Paul writes to believers, not as a requirement for salvation but as maturing in the faith.

Les explains that Paul always writes his letters only to believers, not to the unsaved world, though they are still appropriate for them. The deep doctrines about how we died with Christ and were raised with Him are not things a person must know to be saved; new, untaught people do not need all these deep doctrinal things for salvation. But once a person becomes a child of God, God expects that they learn, grow, and get a graphic understanding of all that God has done on our behalf. Les sees the problem in much of mainstream Christianity as having only the elementaries while never going into the deeper things, so they lack understanding of these deep doctrines Paul is privileged by the Holy Spirit to give in his letters.
