What does God expect from us after He forgives us?
After God forgives, He expects the forgiven person to stop sinning and to grow spiritually. Jesus told the woman, “Neither do I condemn thee, go,” but added, “Sin no more.” Forgiveness is not license to continue adultery or any sin; it calls for a changed life and spiritual growth.
Les explains that the key in the account is Jesus’ command, “Sin no more.” He stresses that this does not give license to adultery by any stretch of the imagination. The passage shows that God is so willing and ready to forgive, but with forgiveness He expects a growth in spirituality. Les adds that this can be picked up graphically after King David sinned in the adulterous situation with Bathsheba.
She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
