What does God expect us to do after we believe in Christ's death and resurrection?
God expects us to cry out to Him for help and saving power. Scripture directs that we confess with our mouth the Lord Jesus, believe in our heart that God raised Him, and call upon Him. Believing Christ died and rose is the basis; the sinner must realize need and cry out, and God responds.
Les teaches from Romans 10 that salvation's heart is confessing with the mouth the Lord Jesus and believing in the heart that God raised Him from the dead, and then you shall be saved. But to trigger it, the person is to call upon Him. Les uses the swimming pool analogy: many kids are screaming and diving, so a weak cry for help may go unheard by most, but a trained lifeguard hears a feeble call and springs into action. Likewise, when God hears a sinner in need of salvation, He is immediately there to save. Yet Les says the person still has to come to the place of realizing they are in need; when they are in need, they cry out and God responds. So yes, we are to believe that Christ died and rose from the dead, but God expects us to cry out on that basis for His help, for His saving power.
