Are Christians under the law or under grace?
Christians are not under the law but under grace. Grace is God's attribute that pours out undeserved favor and mercy on sinners, not because they deserve it, but because of the love shown at the cross. Paul refuses to frustrate grace, for if righteousness came by the law, Christ died in vain.
Les explains that God does not expect us never to fall; when we do, He is ready to pick us up and put us on our way. That is the true concept of the grace of God, though most people misunderstand it. Les points out that Paul said he would not frustrate the grace of God by insisting on doing what the law says. We today are not under the law but under grace. Grace is that attribute of God capable of pouring out undeserved favor and mercy on sinners like us, sons of Adam, because of the love poured out at the cross. If righteousness came by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
