What should I do if I have doubts that I am truly saved?
If doubts about salvation arise, do not go through life doubting. Drop to your knees and sincerely pray, asking the Lord to save you right now if you are not truly saved. Then return to Scripture, verbally affirm God's promise, believe the Gospel, and make your calling and election sure.
Les explains that Satan will come back and cast doubt, making you question whether anything really happened. He advises coming right back to your Bible, opening to Romans 10, and verbally saying out loud, “But God, You promised it.” That is what faith is about: God promised, and you did what He said—called upon Him, believed the Gospel, and now want the assurance that what He said is true. Les also tells people who have doubts not to go through life doubting; drop to your knees some morning and say, “Lord, if I’m not truly saved, I want You to save me right now.” He recalls a lady who did this and later knew without doubt that she had called upon Him and He had saved her. He says don’t go through life wondering, “Am I going to make it? Am I all right?” Scripture says to make your calling and election sure, and that is one way of doing it.
