How can I know for sure from Scripture that I am saved, or help someone who is seeking?

Assurance rests on being justified by faith, so there is now no condemnation for one with genuine faith in the Gospel and a genuine salvation experience. Scripture does not require an emotional high or prescribed rules; you can walk someone through Romans verses to show them how to know they are saved.

Les explains that since we are justified by faith, God can come back and say there is now therefore no condemnation. He carefully qualifies this eternal security: he is not talking about a haphazard church member who walked an aisle, joined a church, or whatever, but about someone who has had genuine faith in the Gospel and a genuine salvation experience. When an individual said they never had a great experience, never saw a great white light, and had no tremendous emotional upheaval, Les says that of course does not mean they were never saved. Scripture does not say you must experience some emotional high or go through a prescribed set of rules. He went through verses in Romans to show people from Scripture how to know themselves that they are saved, or how to lead someone who is seeking.
