Les Feldick Bible Study

How can I know from Scripture that I am saved?

Scripture shows assurance of salvation through genuine faith in the Gospel, not through church membership, walking an aisle, a great white light, emotional upheaval, or prescribed rules. Since believers are justified by faith, God declares there is now no condemnation. The Bible, not an emotional high, is the ground for knowing you are saved.

Les qualifies eternal security carefully: he is not talking about any haphazard church member who merely walked an aisle or joined a church, but about someone who has had genuine faith in the Gospel and a genuine salvation experience. He points out that Scripture does not require a great emotional experience, a great white light, or a tremendous emotional upheaval, nor does it require a prescribed set of rules. So a person who has never had such an emotional high should not conclude they are unsaved. Because justification is by faith, there is now no condemnation. Les went through Romans verses to show people from Scripture how to know themselves that they are saved and how to lead someone who is seeking.
