How can I stop doubting whether I am truly saved?

When doubt comes, return to Romans 10 and say aloud, 'But God, You promised it.' If doubts continue, kneel and pray, 'Lord, if I am not truly saved, save me right now.' Then trust His response, for Scripture says to make your calling and election sure.

Les explains that when doubt returns, Satan is often behind it, trying to make a person ask whether anything really happened. His counsel is to go back to Romans 10 and verbally say out loud, 'But God, You promised it.' That is what faith is: God promised, and the person did what He said—called upon Him and believed the Gospel—and now wants assurance that what God said is true. Les also told a class that if they had doubts, they should not go through life doubting. They should drop to their knees some morning and say, 'Lord, if I'm not truly saved, I want You to save me right now.' A lady did this and testified that a difference came over her life; she knew without doubt she had called upon Him, He had saved her, and she no longer doubted. Scripture says to make your calling and election sure, and this is one way.
