If Christ is our King, what would that make us?

If Christ were our King, we would be subjects. But Scripture does not present Christ as King of the church; He is the head of the body, and believers are members of His body, part of Him, as a wife is part of her husband.

Les explains that although Christ is King of kings, Lord of lords, and God of creation, it is not scripturally correct to call Him the King of the church. If He were our King, we would be subjects, but Paul never gives the illusion that we are subjects who must kowtow to His every command. Instead, we are part of Him, just as the wife is part of the husband. A wife submits to her husband's headship, not as a subject of a king. Les invites anyone to show where Paul teaches Christ is King of the church, because he cannot find it. The constant reference is to Christ as the head of the body, connected to us as members of His body.
