Why is Christ not the King over believers even though He is King of kings?
Christ is not King over the Church because believers are not His subjects; they are His co-heirs. Paul never refers to Christ as King of the Church, only as Savior, Redeemer, and Head of the Body. Believers look for the Savior from heaven, not a King, though He remains King of kings and Lord of lords.
Les explains from Philippians 3:20-21 that the believer's conversation, or citizenship, is already in heaven. From heaven we look for the Savior, not the King. Les stresses that Christ is not the King to the Church; He is the Savior and Head of the Body. Paul never refers to Christ as King of the Church, only as Savior, Redeemer, and Head of the Body. Christ will absolutely be King of kings and Lord of lords, but not for us, because we are never going to be His subjects; we are going to be His co-heirs. That distinction makes a big difference.
