What will life be like on the new earth?
The new earth will be the abode of those who have believed unto eternal life, with Christ all in all. It will be an extension of the kingdom economy, marked by tremendous production and activity. People will be intensely busy and active, not idle or bored, and it will be glorious.
Les explains that after the millennial reign is ended and the old order is burned up by fire, chapters 21 and 22 describe a new heaven and a new earth. That new earth will be the abode of those who have believed unto eternal life, and Christ will be all in all. Les thinks it will be an extension of the kingdom economy. It will be an earth of tremendous production and tremendous activity. Les stresses that believers will not sit around getting bored, strumming on a harp, or doing nothing but shouting hallelujah, although that will certainly be part and parcel. Instead, they will be intensely busy, active, and it will be glorious, because God never created us to be idle; He created beings like us to be active and busy. The thousand-year kingdom will be interrupted for just a short spell, and then the eternal state follows, based on that same pattern.
