Les Feldick Bible Study

Is the forgiveness of past, present, and future sins beyond human comprehension?

Yes. The forgiveness of past, present, and future sins is beyond human comprehension. Scripture teaches that those under that forgiveness are forgiven everything, all trespasses, because Christ paid for it all. It cannot be fully understood, but it is believed by faith, not earned by human works, and will not be fully understood this side of glory.

Les teaches that when a person comes under the forgiveness provided by the Gospel, that forgiveness covers everything—past, present, and future. Because Christ died for the sins of the world, was buried, and rose again, the believer will never come into God’s presence with sin, since it has all been paid for. Les explains that this is beyond human comprehension; he cannot understand it, but he believes it because the Book teaches that all trespasses are forgiven, not because of anything we have done, but because of what Christ accomplished. This makes the Gospel simple yet complex, and it will never be fully understood this side of glory. He also notes Paul’s statement that he is crucified with Christ, yet lives, and the life he now lives in the flesh is lived by faith, with Les preferring the faithfulness of the Son of God.
