Is God's forgiveness beyond human comprehension?

Yes. The forgiveness Scripture describes is beyond human comprehension. When a person comes under it, all sins—past, present, and future—are forgiven and paid for by Christ’s finished work, not by human effort. This truth is simple yet complex, believed by faith, and not fully understood this side of glory.

Les explains that when we come under that forgiveness, we are forgiven everything—past, present, and future. He emphasizes that we will never come into God’s presence with sin on our back, because it has all been paid for. This, he says, is beyond human comprehension: a person cannot understand it, but believes it because that is what the Book teaches. Forgiveness of all trespasses is not because of anything we have done, but because of what Christ accomplished on our behalf. That makes the Gospel simple, yet complex; it will not be fully understood this side of glory. Les also connects this to Paul’s statement in Galatians 2:20 about being crucified with Christ and living by faith.
