Why is Christ able to take the scroll from God the Father in Revelation 5?

Christ is able to take the scroll because of His finished work of the cross and because of who He is—the Eternal, Creator God of the universe. He alone fulfills all requirements to pay off the mortgage, has the wherewithal, is the next of kin, and will show Himself willing.

Les explains that Christ is ready to take the scroll out of the hand of God the Father because of His finished work of the cross and because of who He is—the Eternal, Creator God of the universe. Les points out that He is the One who instituted that mortgage in the first place, yet He alone fulfills all requirements to pay off the mortgage. He has the wherewithal to do it, He is the next of kin, and He is going to show Himself willing. Les also ties this to Daniel 7:13-14, where the language is almost identical to what John used in Revelation, speaking of one like the Son of Man, with “Son” capitalized, showing the Son is mentioned in the Old Testament.
