Why was Christ ready to take the scroll out of God the Father's hand?
Christ was ready to take the scroll because of His finished work of the cross and because of who He is—the Eternal, Creator God of the universe. He alone fulfills all requirements to pay off the mortgage, having the wherewithal, being the next of kin, and showing Himself willing.
Les teaches that Christ was ready to take the scroll out of God the Father’s hand because of His finished work of the cross and because of who He is—the Eternal, Creator God of the universe. He is the One who instituted that mortgage in the first place, and He alone is fulfilling all the requirements to pay off the mortgage. He has the wherewithal to do it, He is the next of kin, and He is going to show Himself willing. Les also connects this to Daniel 7:13-14, where the Son of Man is mentioned in the Old Testament, with the word 'Son' capitalized, showing the Son is present in the Old Testament.
