Who will make a seven-year treaty with Israel in Daniel's prophecy?
Daniel’s prophecy identifies the prince who comes out of the revived Roman empire as the one who makes a seven-year treaty with Israel. In the middle of that treaty, he turns against Israel and sets himself up as God in the rebuilt temple in Jerusalem.
Les teaches that Daniel 9 describes a prince coming out of the revived Roman empire who signs a seven-year treaty with the nation of Israel. Daniel says that in the middle of that seven-year treaty, this man turns on Israel and sets himself up as God to be worshipped in the rebuilt temple in Jerusalem. Les then connects this to Matthew 24:15, where Jesus puts His stamp of approval on Daniel’s prophecy by speaking of the abomination of desolation standing in the holy place. So the treaty-maker is that coming prince, the one Daniel says will later desecrate the holy place.
Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
