What does the false prophet command the people of the earth to make?
The false prophet commands those dwelling on the earth to make an image to the beast, the Antichrist, who had the wound by the sword and yet lived. This false religious leader directs the world’s worship toward that image, mirroring Nebuchadnezzar’s earlier effort to centralize worship in one great image.
Les explains that the false prophet is a false Holy Spirit and a false religious leader, one of two great world leaders who are men, not animals, though bestial in their personalities. This second man of tremendous power causes the people of the earth to worship the Antichrist, who is a counterfeit of the Son, and he tells them to make an image to or of the beast, who had the wound by the sword and did live. Les compares this to Nebuchadnezzar, who tried to centralize all the worship of the world in himself by building a great image. The Antichrist and false prophet consort together to do basically the same thing, amalgamating all religions by making people worship one great image. Les also notes that the false prophet had power to give life unto that image, and modern technology such as living cell computers makes this not stretching beyond present possibility.
And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
